The Three Dancing Maidens, by Walter Schott, created in Germany, before the year of 1910. The Three maidens are featured in the Untermyer Fountain; named after an American lawyer and civic leader, Samuel Untermyer. It was later donated to the park by his children, following his death in 1940.
The sculpture, originally located at his estate, in Yonkers, New York, part of which, is now owned by the City of Yonkers. It will become known as the Untermyer Park, that is now installed in Central Park, in 1947. Three Dancing Maidens, depicts three young women holding hands in a circle. “Whose dresses cling to their wet bodies as if, they’re perpetually in the fountain’s spray. In addition to, the fountain includes three jets; two on the oval pool’s sides, and a larger one in the center of the sculpture. The sculpture can be located at the North Garden entrance at 106th Street to Fifth Avenue. Or you can visit at the main entrance of 105th Street.
